Discover Bodrum

Nestled on the south west coast of Turkey where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean Sea is Bodrum – popular with British tourists looking to escape the dreary UK inters in favour of some sunshine. The glistening turquoise waters meet soft sands where sun-worshippers can bask in the hot sunshine, and thrill seekers will love the wide choice of water sports on offer. There are many choices of accommodation; families will find some great child-friendly hotels on the sea front with their own kids’ clubs and activity programs.

The beaches are a top attraction here; dotted along the coast you will find the Blue Flag beach of Bitez, a great choice for families with its golden sands and variety of water sports. For a more relaxing day on the beach, head to Gumbet’s idyllic beach lined with cafes and restaurants where you can grab some lunch whilst looking out at the beautiful sea views. For a fun-filled day away from the beaches why not take the family for a splash at the nearby waterpark ‘Aqualand’ – it’s guaranteed fun for all the family!

Holidays in Bodrum have a lot more to offer than just sea and sand. It has retained much of its rich heritage, so why not spend a day exploring the historical landmarks? Take the kids to visit the 15th century St. Peter’s Castle in the heart of the town or the Myndos Gate, which was built during the reign of Mausolos. Myndos Gate has seen many bloody battles in its past – it’s a fascinating place and perfect for enthralling the kids with tales of brutal conquests.

For a relaxing treat Turkish style, head to one of the much talked-about ‘Turkish Baths’ and feel pampered and revived ready for a spot of shopping around the town. Don’t miss a bargain at the local markets which are held each weekend. By night the central square around the Marina comes to life with its bars, restaurants and nightlife.

Bodrum really does have something to suit everyone and, with its magical mix of beautiful beaches, boat trips, watersports, fascinating history and culture, it’s no wonder it’s such a huge hit with families who may be wearing an Eco friendly swimwear.
