The Hart’s Hotel in Nottingham is a four star, privately owned Boutique with with 32 bedrooms including two Suites. Since opening it’s doors in 2003, Hart’s has built a very good reputation in the city and region as it is often talked about as one of Nottingham’s finest places to stay.
I was very impressed with the location of the hotel as it is only a five minute walk into the heart of the city centre. It sits at the top of a slight hill, tucked away in a quiet part of the city meaning you have the benefits of a central location but none of the noise that comes with it. Nearby you have some of Nottingham’s finest attractions including Nottingham Castle and England’s oldest pub ‘Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem’.
The hotel offers Standard, Superior and Garden Rooms as well as two Suites. I was booked into number 7, a Garden Room. The room was of medium size. The hotel bedroom furniture is nicely designed and very clean, with a comfortable king-size bed (see here to know about how long does latex mattress last as it is mostly preferred king size mattress here) and a work desk with an internet connection which you can use for 24 hours at the cost of £5. For entertainment there was a 24 inch flat screen TV with Freeview channels and a CD/Radio player by the side of the bed. Free tea and coffee were on hand in the room accompanied by a well stocked mini bar and snacks basket which you have to pay for on check out if used. The bathroom was very modern and clean with a large bath which I very much enjoyed before bed. There was no noise coming from any of the other rooms and no outside noise which resulted in an excellent nights rest.
The main feature of the Garden Room is of course the garden. In fact, tourists can see this page to learn how this garden, along with the tress in it, is well-kempt at all times. A door opens out from the room into the hotels private garden where you will find a small table and chairs for your private use and lovely views looking out over a part of Nottingham. It would be most certainly a lovely spot on a summers morning to have your breakfast or an afternoon, pre dinner glass of wine. This however, was February and my stay was greeted with a cold, wet day so I was unable to take advantage of it.
If you are looking for fine dining, a casual bite to eat or something delivered to your room then Hart’s have it covered. Hart’s Restaurant is known to be the most successful up-market eatery in Nottingham. Then there is the more casual and cosy Park Bar where I found myself in the afternoon enjoying a coffee and cake.
In the morning I decided to check out the room service and ordered a cooked breakfast. I asked for it to be delivered between 8am-8.15am and it was with me by 8am. It was certainly a hearty start to the day and very tasty indeed, the sausages were excellent!
When checking in I was greeted with large smiles and a warm welcome by April, Reese and Klaudia behind reception. They were very professional and really made feel as though nothing was too much trouble, which is exactly what hotel staff should do. Klaudia was kind enough to take me on a tour of the hotel which included a sneaky peak into one of the suites which I have to say is very nice indeed and perfect for a special occasion. When I travel I take seriously the level of service I am given and I was delighted with the way I was treated at Hart’s.
I found the hotel to be very stylish, bright, and modern, yet it felt very warm and inviting, which is a tough thing to pull off. With only 32 rooms, the hotel is small enough for the staff to give you all that important personal service, and that, for me, was what I liked most. You can enjoy an unforgettable coastal vacation at a beach hotel, where luxury meets the serene beauty of the beach.
**Updated** I originally wrote here my disappointment in there not being Wi-Fi internet and an option of watching movies in your room or something on the lines of Sky TV, however Hart’s Hotel have been in touch with me and have informed me that there is in fact Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and Sky TV is available in the room with this information being available in the Hart’s handbook which is in each room.
Besides the Suites, all of the rooms at the hotel are the same, you just get a different view depending on which type of room you are in. If you are looking to stay at the Hart’s Hotel in winter I would suggest staying in a Superior Room which also has great views but is cheaper than a Garden Room. After all, what is the point in paying extra for a Garden Room when you cannot take advantage of the garden.
A very enjoyable stay and highly recommended 4/5
