A second honeymoon is the perfect opportunity to spend some time together away from the reality of real life; and who knows, it could be even better than the first. Sometimes in later life holidays can seem a little less spontaneous and can get bogged down in travel insurance for over 60s, travel money and itineraries.
So, why not push all the admin to one side and get picking from our list of perfect destinations for a second honeymoon?
Maldives
It’s one of the most popular destinations for newlyweds, but only recently. So chances are, if you’re celebrating a second honeymoon it’s likely to be your first chance of heading to the Maldives. Stay in a traditional beachside property or an over-water villa and lap up the luxury. The crystal clear water and white sand isn’t bad either.
Australia
If you’re heading down under to Oz you’ll need a minimum of three weeks to get the most out of it, so a second honeymoon is the perfect excuse. Enjoy the city lights of Sydney and Melbourne, the tranquility of Fraser Island and the stunning natural beauty of the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef. One of the most breathtaking countries in the world is your oyster.
New York
Who said that a second honeymoon had to involve lounging on the beach? How about staying in one of the plushest hotels in the world’s most iconic city? You can take in the famous sites, shop till you drop and just enjoy all the city has to offer; and each other of course.
Venice
Is there anywhere more romantic than Venice? We don’t think so. There are gondola rides, a boat trip to the islands, sunset on St. Mark’s Square and Venetian art at the church of the Frari; and that’s before you enjoy the best in Italian food and wine.
Bali
The island of the Gods is the perfect honeymoon destination for couples whatever your age. You’ll find endless beaches, fantastic local food and a rich culture; basically everything you need for a wonderfully memorable experience. Throw in some Hindu temples and it could be the holiday of a lifetime.
It’s time to treat yourselves; enjoy.
