The temperature is starting to dip, and the nights are drawing in, which means many of us are looking forward to cosy evenings in with our families and loved ones. Not having to feel bad for not taking advantage of the weather! But we can’t hibernate all winter, and it’s one of the best times of year to take in some of the best bits of the UK. If you are looking for a bit of inspiration on where you can head to this winter with your family, look no further! There is so much to see and do right on your doorstep, take a look at our recommended destinations for a winter break in the UK this year.
Whether it’s a visit to the capital city London, or heading further up in the country to Manchester or Edinburgh, a city break is a great destination for a break in the UK this winter. We don’t know about you, but the thought of wrapping up warm and browsing the Christmas markets with a glass of napa valley wine tasting can make our heart smile.
Manchester, Edinburgh and London all offer something a bit different in terms of their winter activities. Whether it’s a simple walk down Oxford Street in London for some Christmas shopping, a trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester for a bite to eat and a day out with enough entertainment to entertain the entire family. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy a nice winter meal out in the evenings too, with plenty of accommodation to suit your needs!
Embrace the winter sea air and head to Robin Hood’s bay this winter, discovering Yorkshire’s dramatic coast in a completely different way! It’s the perfect trip for a romantic walk, with a group of friends or with the family. It’s a great adventure for a day out, and on a crisp winter’s day, Robin Hood’s Bay offers panoramic views up and down the coast, and it’s a great place for a winter rambling, with plenty to discover in this quaint fishing village, including the hidden cove of Boggle Hove, which sounds like something right out of an Enid Blyton novel!
Heading over to the other side of the country you’ll find unrivalled views in The Lake District, with one of our favourite destinations being Keswick. It is one of the most popular destinations in the UK for taking your dog, with plenty of dog-friendly hotels to choose from, and who wants to be away from their four-legged friend in the colder months? Walks around the area offer beautiful views over Derwentwater and even further afield, with plenty of cosy restaurants and bars offering excellent Cumbrian food to satisfy your appetite after a day out.
An undoubtedly picturesque area of the United Kingdom, the New Forest National Park offers some of the most beautiful winter walks for you to enjoy this year. Staying in the local city of Winchester, you can travel over to the New Forest to take in some of the views, with Winchester Cathedral offering an ice skating rink in their grounds that the whole family can enjoy!

There are dozens of places to visit in winters when the snow starts to fall which can sparkle your Holidays. Visiting Pembroke-shire is a great choice for top-cliff cycling and the sea breeze
