The Regatta Way Cross Waterproof Jacket

Today’s travel product review comes from Ski & Trek employee Oliver Fish.

When the ground lay thick with snow, and temperatures dipped regularly below zero, I was asked to road test a new spring/summer Jacket for Regatta, being a little sceptical at first testing a summer jacket in the midst of Winter I accepted and a few weeks later arrived the new Regatta Way Cross Waterproof Jacket.

Being winter I approached with caution as I did not want to set aside my trusted winter warmer coat, but I pursued, firstly on looks, the jacket is stylish with a durable material and comfortable fit, providing non-restrictive movement with an active fit around the chest and arms. With my first impressions very high I took it out for my first test run, a short 3 mile circular jaunt, the lightweight jacket contains stretch material meaning it fit me like a hand to a glove. Holding up against my initial test it slowly became my new walking companion, the Way Cross jacket surprised me by its insulation and breathable capabilities in the winter wonderland, being an affordable walking jacket I was not expecting such a high performance material.

As winter began to subside and the watery beginning to spring commenced I wore this jacket more, setting discarding my previous walking jacket and taking this one as my primary option. Pushing Regattas proud Isotex Technology that the jacket possesses  to its limits of water resistance and breathability, like water to a ducks back it ran off effortlessly while dispersing any moisture  inside of the jacket as I plodded along, whether that was in the Lake district, Yorkshire dales, Peak district and around the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. I found that this jacket functioned more like a top end mountaineering jacket than a mid-range Regatta waterproof. Pleased with the result I traded my old jacket and passed the baton to Regatta to take me through.

The Verdict

Having now worn this jacket for nearly 3 months, no other jacket has caught my eye in the same way, getting a regular battering from the wind and rain and has yet to let me down. This Jacket gets my seal of approval, and an even more prestigious notation, I would like to award this Regatta Way Cross jacket with a Ski & Trek 5 star rating. A must have Jacket with all the amenities and functionality of a high spec jacket with the price tag of a Regatta.
